GHD South Queensland’s Surface Water & Catchments Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Water Resource Engineer to join our Brisbane based team. This exciting role will be involved in the delivery of substantive hydrologic and hydraulic elements for a diverse range of projects. There is flexibility in this position to define and drive career outcomes that are most important to you (whether that be technical, business development or managerial), while working within the storm and surface water service line which is comprised of a large pool of global industry leaders and technical experts. The South Queensland Surface Water & Catchments team is a highly motivated and social group, with a mix of water professionals ranging from fresh graduates all the way through to senior technical directors with 35 years of consulting experience. Working with our accomplished team, you will be involved with: A broad range of civil infrastructure projects, including dams, weirs, fishways, stormwater drainage, linear infrastructure, future energy, and mine water management schemes. Complex hydrologic and hydraulic studies to facilitate impact and risk assessments, hydraulic designs, planning studies, and regulatory compliance requirements. Working on a diverse range of projects based locally, interstate and internationally. Integrating into large multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver major infrastructure projects; and Working with the team to strengthen our business position, undertake business development activities, and technical capability development. What you will bring to the team: A degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, data science/ analytics. Between 2-10 years’ relevant technical experience across a range of market sectors. Genuine passion and interest in the state of water resources engineering, and a desire to learn and push boundaries in this space. Recognising that not everyone has the same set of skills, we are keen to see where your strengths lie. Skills relevant to this position will include many of the following: A fundamental understanding of relevant guidelines and methodologies relevant to your skills (e.g., ARR 2019, ANCOLD, TMR Hydraulics Guidelines, QUDM etc.) Applied experience supporting infrastructure design through the application of various hydrologic and hydraulic packages Strong client relationship skills and project management skills in water resources projects Hands-on technical experience with a range of relevant software will be viewed favourably. GHD utilises a vast array of hydrologic and hydraulic software packages such as Goldsim, TUFLOW, HECRAS, QGIS, ArcPro, RORB, URBS, WBNM, CFD packages (STAR-CCM, Flow-3D), LifeSim, Python, AutoCAD, 12D, Civil3D etc. Be a great communicator and team player with the ability to work independently, demonstrate good decision-making skills and commercial acumen.
