UQ Library This is a part-time (20 hours p.w., 8:30am to 12:30pm Mon-Fri), continuing position with FTE salary in the range $63,575 - $65,065 (HEW 2), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. Based at our Gatton campus About This Opportunity The Warehouse Assistant contributes to the day-to-day maintenance of the library’s extensive resources while delivering high-quality service in a dynamic, team-based environment. This is a hands-on role within The University of Queensland Library, offering the chance to support one of Australia’s largest academic collections. As part of a dedicated team, you will be responsible for a range of essential library operations including shelving, sorting, manual processing, mail handling, and document scanning. Key responsibilities will include: Library Material Processing: Perform manual processing tasks, including check-in, labelling (spine and security tags), and preparation of library materials. Collection Management: Maintain library collections through retrieving, sorting, shelving, and general collection maintenance activities. Document Handling: Undertake document handling tasks such as scanning, photocopying, opening, packaging, and sending mail items. General Assistance: Complete other duties as directed by your supervisor to support library operations. Please note that this is an on-campus role. General duties involve moving books, journals and boxes as required, climbing up and down ladders, and pushing loaded trolleys. Repetitive tasks involve lifting, reaching, and squatting with long periods of standing and walking. About You Completion of Year 10 or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and/or training. Demonstrated ability to organise work to meet deadlines and standards, with strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team. Proven ability to work in a busy customer service environment, with a commitment to providing quality service and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Flexibility and adaptability with a willingness to learn new skills, and the capacity to acquire basic computer skills. You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
