Legal Counsel — Docklands, Melbourne

You will join an experienced and well-regarded group of lawyers where you will have the responsibility to provide high-quality legal support primarily across Bega’s procurement and sales teams and a rare opportunity to grow your experience in general commercial legal work in an exciting FMCG environment. This role would suit a junior lawyer enthusiastic about commercial law with an understanding of the demands and pace required when working in house. Ideally you will have contract review, drafting and negotiation experience in manufacturing, procurement and/or sales. The Legal Counsel (Junior) will provide legal support in a complex, confidential and sensitive environment, prepare accurate and outcome focused documents and advice, and have strong research, communication and organisational skills to deliver legal services across the Bega Group. This is an exciting role for a junior lawyer that ideally has 1-3 years of post-admission experience. The role is based in our Docklands offices in Melbourne. Responsibilities Build on your legal experience to deliver timely, accurate and commercially driven legal advice across the Bega Group, with a focus on procurement and sales functions Draft, review and assist with negotiating agreements, including large tenders, and implement successful contracting strategies Draft correspondence and prepare research and analysis while applying excellent attention to detail Work effectively with other legal team members to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, proactively address legal risk in the business and support and promote ethical decision-making About you A Bachelor of Laws or a Juris Doctor Degree, with strong academic results A current Australian legal practising certificate 1-3 years’ post admission experience, preferably including some time at a top tier law firm Previous in-house experience in a similar environment welcomed, although not required Bega Group Story Bega Group is home to many trusted and iconic food and beverage brands.
