About the Position This position will play a key role in leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander initiatives within the School of Social Sciences. The successful applicant will provide leadership in culturally respectful and safe research, teaching, and other initiatives, with a particular focus on social work education and research. The role will contribute to the School’s teaching, research, research training, and community engagement, with a strong emphasis on embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. This will include leading and participating in collaborative research projects with academic colleagues, community members, and industry partners; developing innovative and culturally informed curricula that meet TEQSA and professional accreditation requirements; and fostering strong partnerships with community, government, and non-government stakeholders. A key responsibility of the role is the teaching and coordination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-focused subjects. The position requires cultural knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge in scholarly approaches to teaching and research. The successful candidate will join a small team of Aboriginal scholars in the School of Social Sciences and will have opportunities to collaborate with Indigenous scholars across the University of Wollongong.
