About the Role: The Senior Network Engineer will play a critical role in the design, maintenance and enhancement of Victoria University’s growing digital network to deliver a range of high quality Information Technology services across the organisation. Conceptualising, developing and reviewing network infrastructure solutions and mapping business requirements to technical requirements to ensure they are in line with University visions and strategies are key features of this interesting and varied role. This is a full time (36.75 hours per week), fixed term position at a HEP 8 $110,100 - $123,987 per annum 17% employer superannuation. This is a 12 month contract period. Install, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco Datacentre switches, Cisco DCNM, Cisco FMC, FTD, ISE, Cisco Wireless, Cisco SDA, and Cisco DNAC. Manage and configure load balancing environments using F5 LTM. Maintain network security by applying updates, patches, and security fixes to operating systems, software, and firmware. Monitor and optimize the university’s network to ensure reliable performance and service levels. Provide expert network engineering support for diagnosing and resolving network faults. Offer high-quality customer support for fault resolution and service requests. Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to coordinate problem resolution. Design system configurations, document and enforce system standards, and develop network procedures. Enhance network security and management through automation (e.g., Puppet, Ansible, Cisco ACI). Contribute to the continuous improvement of the university’s data center and campus network services. Participate in an on-call roster for after-hours support when required. About the Person: Your career as a networking engineer is well established and, with around a decade of experience in large and complex organisations, you are now ready to step into a Senior Network Engineer role. Holding a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), or relevant equivalent industry experience, you are a technical expert whose skills in implementing and/or maintaining a range of network services are highly sought after, as is your ability to produce quality, well written technical documents. Customer focused with great communication skills, you are readily able to collaborate with internal clients to assist them to understand, define and document their requirements.
