Torpedo Systems Engineer — Rockingham Area, Perth Region

The key duties of the position include The Role As an Engineer/Technician in the RAN Maritime Warfare Centre (MWC) you will be able to apply and develop your engineering/scientific knowledge to analyse and evaluate complex systems in the underwater warfare domain. In this role, your focus will be on analysing torpedo firings conducted by the RAN and RAAF using air, surface and sub-surface platforms. Activities include reconstructing and analysing torpedo firings; producing quick-look signals; producing firing reports; debriefing exercise participants; developing analysis software; and participating in firing exercises and trials. We don't anticipate that you will start as a subject matter expert but we commit to supporting you develop and enhance your skills including training on naval systems, test and evaluation, data science and engineering. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
