Reporting to the Director, SQL, SAS and Data Management Team, the SAS Administrator is responsible for implementing and managing SAS Analytics Platforms at the Department. This includes all related projects and activities that provide secure, stable, and high-performing SAS systems for all our users. The key duties of the position include Responsibilities of the EL1 SAS Administrator may include: Manage, support, and administer SAS Grid and SAS Viya Platforms. Resolve complex issues related to SAS Installations, including data and access. Raise and manage SAS and IBM Technical Support cases where vendor assistance is necessary. Recommend and implement appropriate solutions and enhancements to ensure improvements in system security, reliability, and performance. Manage competing priorities to focus on completing the most critical work first such as Production system outages. Escalate issues to senior management if required, for example, Emergency Change Requests. Create and follow Patching procedures to upgrade and hotfix SAS platforms. Organise with other technical teams to implement OS patches and firmware updates on SAS servers. Mentoring of junior staff, including performance appraisals. Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the SAS user community, to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation. Project management for upgrade and installations, management of team activities. Reporting as required. Monitor, Assign and action items in the team mailbox and in ServiceNow. Conduct daily health checks. Create training and support resources for SAS products, including tip sheets and Standard Operating Procedures. Research recent technologies and new platforms, such as Kubernetes and OpenShift Represent team at meetings and conferences. Raise Change and Service Requests as required for system updates, including License and SSL certificate renewals. Send notifications to business users on system outages/upgrades. Assist in setting up user groups and training sessions related to SAS, especially new platforms. Assist with annual SAS contract renewal process. Engage with other technical teams within TSD as necessary for to resolve issues affecting SAS environments, for example, Cybersecurity for authentication, Network team for communications issues, Release Management for SAS Client installation packaging.
