12 12 12 month contract - NV2 security clearance required Installation, configuration, maintenance, and management of complex IT systems Barton, ACT - Flexible working arrangements Our client, a large Federal government department based in Barton, ACT, requires an experienced senior system administrator for a long 12 12 12 month contract. You will provide advanced systems administration services in support of critical government infrastructure. Duties Installation, configuration, maintenance, and management of complex IT systems, ensuring their availability, security, and optimal performance. Strong experience managing and optimizing Windows Desktop environments. Experience working with government agencies or in highly regulated environments. Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet. System Administration, Security Management, System Monitoring. Troubleshooting and Support. Automation and Scripting. Backup and Disaster Recovery. Documentation and Reporting and Compliance. Key duties and responsibilities Lead the administration, configuration, and maintenance of complex server environments, including both physical and virtual infrastructure, ensuring high availability and optimal performance. Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and sensitive data. Perform regular security audits and patch management in accordance with government security protocols. Oversee the monitoring of systems to ensure reliability, performance, and capacity. Proactively identify potential issues and take corrective actions to prevent service disruptions. Advanced technical support for system issues, diagnosing and resolving complex problems related to operating systems, server environments, and IT infrastructure. Develop and implement automation scripts for system management tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell is highly desirable. Ensure effective backup solutions are in place and regularly tested. Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical data and services. Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation, including configurations, system architectures, and processes. Prepare detailed reports on system performance and status for management and stakeholders.
