Role Definition Manages engineering for design and development of technologies, components, systems, products, or services. Responsibilities - Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for engineering teams; motivating and developing project and team leaders. - Providing specialised engineering technical support and consulting services to various areas of the organization. - Managing high-impact, short and long duration engineering initiatives and projects; ensuring achievement of engineering plan and product quality. - Maintaining product release plans and material plans; driving programs to completion on time and within budget. Key Skills Required: - Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan. Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyse situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. - Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours. Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. - Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams, and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace. Collaborating Globally: Knowledge of effective collaboration techniques and ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures, think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results. - Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Qualifications: Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum and 10 years of progressive engineering experience, or 15 years of progressive engineering experience.
