More About the Role at Canva About the Team The Visual Suite team is responsible for developing and maintaining a suite of products that empower users to create, edit, and share a wide range of visual content seamlessly. The Visual Suite includes Canva Docs, Whiteboards, Presentations, Social Media, Video, Websites, and Print, all designed to support users at various stages of their workflow. As a member of the Visual Suite team, you will work on specifically on new functionality and features while still ensuring all these products are integrated seamlessly - providing a cohesive and intuitive user experience. The team is primarily made up of talented frontend engineers with some backend and machine learning folks cooking up some magic to support them. Job Description The role may be a good match if you have - Passion for UX and Collaboration – Enthusiasm for crafting exceptional user experiences, storytelling, and working closely with designers and engineers. - Frontend Engineering Expertise – Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and frameworks like React and TypeScript, with consideration for cross-browser compatibility and performance optimization. - Experience with Design Systems – Prior experience contributing to or working within a design system to ensure consistency and scalability. - Problem-Solving and Algorithmic Thinking – Strong analytical skills to tackle complex engineering challenges and optimize solutions. - Computer Science Fundamentals – Solid understanding of concurrency, multithreading, data structures, architecture, and design patterns. - Collaborative Mindset – Thrive in a cross-functional environment, working closely with designers, engineers, and product teams to drive impactful solutions. - Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing – Contribute to a culture of continuous growth by guiding and supporting teammates through feedback, code reviews, and shared learning. - Strong Organizational Skills – Ability to break down complex projects into manageable tasks, prioritize effectively, and deliver high-quality work efficiently. - Effective Written Communication – Confidently articulate ideas through well-structured design documents and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback on pull requests.
