We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Future Energy team in our Perth office. This position contributes to the winning, technical management and delivery of power consulting engineering projects as part of the Western Australian Future Energy team. With a plethora of work in the pipelines, you will contribute towards designing, analysing and optimising substations and other electrical facilities to enhance reliability, safety and performance for our clients and communities. And as we look to transition from traditional energy sources to adopt more renewable alternatives, you can play a key role in enabling and accelerating this change. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Collaborate with project teams to design and engineer power facilities including transmission substations, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and balance of plant design for renewable generation Perform protection design, settings and studies for transmission networks Perform substation automation system design, configuration and commissioning Perform load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, and other analyses to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with Australian and industry standards Develop specification and scope of work documents Perform substation primary and secondary system engineering studies including earthing design, lighting design, lightning design, cable rating studies, AC system, DC system and cable rating studies In conjunction with the drafting team, create drawing packages for Substation primary and secondary design and renewable generation balance of plant design Perform simple drafting in MicroStation Contribute to and prepare engineering design reports Evaluate and recommend equipment selections, including transformers, switchgear, protective devices, and automation systems Lead small projects Perform feasibility studies for integrating renewable energy sources, energy storage, and other emerging technologies into transmission and distribution networks Conduct field visits and inspections to assess distribution infrastructure conditions, identify potential improvements, and address operational challenges Develop and maintain accurate documentation, schematics, and records of distribution system designs and modifications What you will bring to the team: Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related field 3-5years relevant experience preferably in a consulting services or power utility environment Experience in any related power design field including building services, mining, LV or MV design. Experience with HV Substations will be highly regarded Sound understanding of industry codes and standards related to power e.g. AS2067, AS/NZS 3000 Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed engineering decisions Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality engineering documentation Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines Knowledge of distribution system protection, control, and coordination principles.
