Director – Capability Systems Engineering — City, North Canberra

The Director – Capability Systems Engineering is responsible for leading and advancing capability systems engineering services in SYSTRA’s Security and Technology Solutions (STS) line of business. They are responsible for the delivery of professional, high-quality, innovative capability systems engineering solutions to SYSTRA's clients. Canberra based preferred. This role has 6 -8 direct reports. ( 10-15 indirect reports) Domestic travel will be required. The focus of this role will be to lead: The development of our existing services and capabilities, as well as the design and implementation of new services and capabilities, to meet client demands while ensuring commercially viability. All technical professionals assigned to the capability systems engineering discipline skills sets / job families, with a focus on: advancing personnel capability and capacity in capability systems engineering. fostering a culture of continuous learning, coaching, and mentoring. leading the technical professional development framework and activities. including championing professionalisation (competency, currency, and professional certification). acting as a point of escalation for non-routine line-management issues. The role also requires situational leadership of opportunities across the business development and project delivery lifecycle as they relate to capability systems engineering services. They will be required to help grow the portfolio of STS clients (direct client and/or end-client) and contracted projects over time, in particular growing capability systems engineering services. They must work as part of a collective high-performance team, in collaboration with other STS leaders and managers, to achieve SYTYSRA’s business objectives. The ideal candidate will have: Strong understanding of capability systems engineering best practices. Strong experience in leading and managing technically focused professionals. Very strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to access, build and maintain networks and relationships with clients and partners, particularly at senior levels of the organisation.
