The key duties of the position include The Role Working as part of the engineering team you will be given the unique opportunity to shape the delivery of an engineering and technical program which will provide a significant life-of-type and capability upgrade to the High Assurance Cryptographic Equipment (HACE) across digital data/voice, IP and radio frequency domains as used throughout Defence. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team the APS 6 Engineer will work with partners from industry and other Defence groups to guide the design, development, integration and evaluation of the IASPO cryptographic program. The APS 6 Engineer will be responsible for exercising assigned engineering authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations to ensure that IASPO supplied materiel is both safe and fit-for-service. About our Team Our organisation is made up of distinctive teams that provide the sustainment philosophy, approvals, management, and accountability for a large proportion of the Cryptographic capability within Defence, Defence Industry, and Whole of Government. The workforce is made up of diverse professionals with varied experience in sustainment, policy, program management and strategic analysis in Government and private sector and works closely with multiple agencies within and external to the Department of Defence. We provide and support the cryptographic capability needs for Defence as aligned to National and Defence requirements. The team is passionate about delivering outcomes to support a whole of Government capability in support of Government initiatives. Our Ideal Candidate Information Assurance Systems Program Office (IASPO), within Defence's Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), is seeking a professional engineer with high level competence to work in acquisition and sustainment of modern cryptographic equipment providing secure communications capabilities to the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Our Ideal Candidate: Skills and experience in Defence systems engineering, ideally with insight into communications and cryptographic systems. Experience analysing engineering risks and assisting stakeholders with mitigation options. Effective problem solving and deductive reasoning skills. An ability to contribute to a diverse team on complex projects. The capacity to think strategically, develop plans and processes to enhance the achievement of business outcomes. Proven communication, customer and stakeholder engagement skills. A team-focussed, flexible attitude and commitment to contribute to workplace goals. High-level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others. Sound commercial and business acumen and demonstrated understanding of the Defence Industry sector in Australia.
