Asset Engineer — Bellingen, Bellingen Area

Join our team as an Asset Management Engineer and play a key role in shaping the future of Bellingen Shire Council’s infrastructure. This position provides technical and operational support for asset management systems while assisting in the planning, maintenance and renewal of essential community assets, including roads, stormwater, buildings, and open spaces. We are a progressive local government authority employing approximately 150 dedicated employees. The Opportunity Reporting to the Group Leader Technical Services, this role is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of asset management systems. You will assist in delivering asset management plans, maintaining accurate asset data, supporting financial reporting requirements, and ensuring best practice risk management processes are in place. You will also contribute to capital works planning, disaster recovery claims, and grant applications. We are looking for a qualified engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and demonstrated experience in managing public infrastructure assets. Your technical expertise in asset management systems, GIS mapping, financial reporting, and risk management principles will be critical to success in this role. Postgraduate qualifications in Asset Management and membership with professional bodies such as Engineers Australia or IPWEA would be highly regarded. To excel in this position, you will need strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, along with a keen eye for detail. Your ability to interpret data, develop effective asset management solutions, and collaborate with stakeholders will ensure Council’s infrastructure assets are managed efficiently and sustainably.
