About Us Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'. VCAT The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) is a justice service that resolves a wide range of disputes for the Victorian community, including renting, planning, and consumer disputes. About the Role The role operates within a dynamic environment that requires capacity to exercise sound judgment and to undertake effective and timely actions. You will be required to: provide legal advice under supervision and comment on draft legislation and regulation review and report on legislative and policy issues, risks, and trends produce briefing papers on orgnisational and operational issues, as well as preparing regular and ad hoc briefs, letters, emails and reports support the drafting and coordination of formal instruments such as Memorandums of Understanding, Service Agreements, Terms of Reference, Terms and Conditions contribute to the development and evaluation of new policies and procedures establish and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve VCAT's strategic goals contribute to the full life cycle of projects to meet organisational objectives maintain accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the organisation's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements This is a 12 month fixed term position About You The ideal candidate will have: demonstrated ability to research, interpret, and apply legislation and guidelines demonstrated ability to convert complex information regarding legislative changes into plain English proven ability to provide advice to senior management on issues of policy and reform highly developed analytical, conceptual and written communication skills a comprehensive understanding of Victoria's court system and/or equivalent environment a proven ability to work in a sustained way and deliver results under pressure where there are competing priorities, incomplete or ambiguous information excellent stakeholder management skills and experience engaging with stakeholders at all levels Qualifications Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent qulaification from a recognised tertiary institution Be admitted (or eligible to be admitted) to practice as a legal practitioner in Victoria and hold (or be eligible to apply for) a current practicising certificate (mandatory) How to apply Click the ‘Apply Now' button, ensuring you include the following in your application: resume a short cover letter Other information CSV is the employer of staff at Courts Group.
