The key duties of the position include The Role The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is an historic and transformative endeavour for Australia. The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia's economic and national security landscape for decades to come. This role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the critical ICT capabilities used by our workforce are fit-for-purpose, responsive to sensitive and time-critical duty requirements, and built on technology stacks in line with industry advances. You will design, build, monitor and manage systems and platforms with a strong focus on agility, security, and resilience. The additional payment is a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace. Applicants engaged into a BDCP position must consider the following. BDCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA). This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review. Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BDCP may be reviewed and ceased. It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BDCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence. Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your BDCP additional payment will cease. Under broad direction administer and maintain operating system, virtual & physical infrastructure, database, storage, network, corporate backup and business continuity/disaster recovery infrastructure. Ensure IT Security, Change Management and Procurement Policies and Processes are followed. Provide in-depth knowledge and expert advice on complex issues, working across a broad range of activities that potentially relate to the work of different program areas and/or stakeholders. Undertake simple project management, technical lead or project team member responsibilities to undertake and/or assist with research, planning, procurement and implementation of new/upgraded IT infrastructure and services. Applicants require a background in Information and Communications Technology and some experience of working with the components typically associated with Enterprise ICT systems, for example: Microsoft 365 environment, midrange-server computers, storage, and networking.
