Overview: This is an RMIT Jobs on Campus role - open to recent graduates and student currently enrolled at RMIT University. The Associate Learning Designer will assist academic and teaching staff with designing and developing learning activities, media resources, audio, video, and/or animation for online learning and other digital environments in new and revised programs. The Associate Learning Designer will work collaboratively as a team member with Learning, Teaching, and Quality colleagues and School teaching teams to support the transformation of innovative learning & teaching ideas into fit-for-purpose learning resources based on curriculum requirements for contemporary HE education settings. The incumbent will have experience in and/or an appreciation for the role technology plays in enhancing the student experience and outcomes, as well as knowledge of the benefits of discipline-specific strategies for face-to-face and online learning environment. Key Accountabilities The Associate Learning Designer (ALD) will provide support in learning design and digital development activities. Specifically, the ALD will: Use a checklist to provide feedback on the quality of courses, including digital accessibility on the Canvas Learning Management System and other RMIT-supported systems. Refer to exemplars, course blueprint and other guidance materials to build learning activities, assessments and rubrics / marking guides into the Canvas Learning Management System and other RMIT-supported systems. Design and produce digital media and video content for learning, courses, and programs. Arrange components and revise or write instructions to improve the navigational experience of online courses for students and staff. Conduct testing and provide feedback on the quality of learning activities, digital resources, and instructions in online, blended, and hybrid courses. Document processes and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing across teams. Participate in face-to-face and online meetings with academics and other team members to review and revise existing courses. Apply a solutions-focused mindset to escalate issues and solve problems in a timely and appropriate manner. Champion, propose, and support the application of new approaches, ways of thinking, and tools that will positively impact student needs, retention, and outcomes. Key Selection Criteria To be successful in this position, the Associate Learning Designer will: Have the capacity to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrate excellent oral, written, and media-based communication skills. Possess a high level of competence in information technology, including word processing, spreadsheets, and visual presentation software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud. Experience with the production of digital learning resources that include but are not limited to the use of video and multimedia production techniques. Demonstrated ability to support the production of digital and print media solutions for online and blended learning courses, programs, and training products. Have a high degree of familiarity with online courses, learning tools, and social media. Qualifications A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children Check and other checks as required by the specific role.
