About The Role We are seeking a dedicated Senior Sales Assistant for our Online stores in a Part-time capacity. This position is based out of Portland. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the General Retail Award, Level 4. This is a maximum term part time position for 12 months (28.8 hours per week). Key Responsibilities: Second in charge with responsibility for security and general running of the shop Provide supervisory assistance to the Thrift Shop Manager, supervising volunteers scheduled on the day of your shift Induction & training, on-boarding of Volunteers to Salvation Army and Workday System. Opening or closing the premises or providing associated security; Support management in supervising specific departments to ensure they meet expectations according to operational procedures Oversee the online store, including valuations, uploading items, pricing, listing, postage & handling and updating listings Assist the Thrift Shop manager to Implement appropriate retail sales opportunities internally and externally to maximize sales including in store promotions, attending periodic or seasonal local markets Maintain the appropriate visual standards of the store and ensure stock is organised as per Thrift Shop guidelines and operational procedures Perform higher duties as required and directed when store manager takes leave Responsible for disciplinary measures and addressing behavioural issues relating to volunteers About You: Demonstrated customer service experience working in a retail environment with an ability to work collaboratively in a team setting Sound presentation and communication skills (both verbal and written) with an ability to interact with a variety of people Ability to have difficult conversations with staff relating to accountability and performance Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively Willingness to undergo a criminal history check Some experience with online selling and photography desired Moderate level experience and competency with computers, devices, software and social media Physical ability to safely sit, stand, walk regularly and for long periods of time Physical ability to push, pull, lift, carry items up to 10 kilos in weight.
