Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Materials Engineering/Chemical Engineering — St Lucia, Brisbane

Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) Full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 2 years Base salary will be in the range $100,162.80 - $107,104.10 17% Superannuation (Academic Level A) Based at our vibrant St Lucia Campus About This Opportunity As Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will focus on the design and characterisation of the development of nano-architectured anticorrosion coating materials for the steel industry. The candidate needs to have expertise in nanomaterials synthesise including MOFs and anticorrosion testing. At this level, it is expected that you will assist with supervision of HDR students and some staff, as well as contribute to service and engagement roles and activities. Key responsibilities will include: Research: Contribute to a research program, collaborate on research projects, assist to seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, participate in project discussions, and contribute to the transfer of knowledge, technology and practices to research end users through translation, including commercialisation of UQ intellectual property. Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to supervision of Honours and Higher Degrees by Research students (as appropriate), supervise and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits. Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values. About You PhD qualified in materials engineering, chemical engineering or related area. Demonstrated ability to conduct meaningful research in the areas of nanoparticle production, including Metal-Organic Frameworks and anti-corrosion coatings and testing. An emerging profile in research in the discipline area. Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences. Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.
