Brief Summary of role: To assist in the delivery of the Community Patrol Services which provides domestic and family violence support in communities. To assist people at risk of either causing or becoming victims of harm, to break the cycle of violence and crime in Kalano communities, Binjari and Katherine CBD. Patrol also supports the safety of children and young people by offering transport home. To be responsible in the provision of a culturally appropriate service to community members The role is focussed on 4 major objectives: • Safety to the Individual and Public • Possible Prevention • Possible Intervention • Solutions based support Key Responsibilities: • Provide consistent and regular night patrols in the communities • Assist in maintaining work, health and safety standards for all staff and clients • To assist in the collection of data and have input to program improvement • Assist in undertaking promotional activities which raise community awareness of the role and benefits of the Patrol services • Ensure children are at home or in another safe location with a parent or carer at night. Remind parents to provide a safe quiet place for children to sleep • Defuse violent situations and protect vulnerable people where safe to do so • Ensure facilities, grounds, equipment and vehicles are maintained in good condition initiating maintenance and repair schedules for all Kalano assets under your supervision • Conduct effective liaison with internal users, major service providers and referring agencies in order to achieve the required level of service delivery • Attend regular staff meetings • Undertake other duties as directed by executive management Salary and Conditions: Employment Type: Casual Salary Range: $25.79 – $33.91 per hour (plus casual loading & other applicable allowances) Location: Kalano’s Transport Services Office – Katherine, NT. Hours of work: Availability during Operating Hours – Monday – Friday 3:00pm – 11:30pm The successful applicant should have; • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients, staff and stakeholders • Sound knowledge of the Katherine local area and ability to navigate the streets safely and effectively • Current NT drivers licence, Valid Ochre Card and willingness to undertake a National Police check.
