ABOUT THE ROLE This is a time release position with no class allocation focused on supporting teachers in designing and adapting curriculum to meet the needs of students with extensive learning requirements. The Inclusion and Diversity Teacher – Curriculum Specialist works within the Inclusion and Diversity Network, ensuring that all students have access to an engaging and inclusive learning environment. The role is guided by Universal Design for Learning principles and the Disability Standards for Education, enabling teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences that cater to diverse needs. Key responsibilities include: Curriculum Design & Support: Collaborating with teachers to develop, modify, and implement curriculum that supports students with extensive learning needs. Teacher Guidance & Professional Learning: Providing coaching, resources, and best-practice strategies to staff to enhance inclusive teaching. Special Provisions & Learning Plans: Assisting with the development of special provision documentation and student learner profiles. Stakeholder Collaboration: Engaging with external agencies, Program Support Groups, and transition teams to ensure smooth student progression. Data-Driven Insights: Using student data and research-based strategies to guide curriculum adjustments. ABOUT YOU The successful candidate will demonstrate: Essential: A deep understanding of curriculum differentiation and strategies to support students with extensive learning needs. Relevant qualifications or experience in student diversity, inclusion, or special education. Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with teachers, learning support staff, and external stakeholders. Commitment to the College’s Mission and Mercy values. Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and the Disability Standards for Education. Desirable: Experience in compliance documentation and evidence collation.
