The AFP is a key contributor to the Australian Government's Pacific Strategy. Pacific Command leads AFP's engagement with Pacific Police partners with the primary focus to promote regional stability and to prevent and disrupt transnational crime threats. Pacific Command is responsible for delivering the Commissioner and Government's strategic intent, with a significant focus on implementing the Pacific Policing Initiative to strengthen partnerships and boost capabilities across the Pacific. The Pacific Strategy branch within Pacific Command is responsible for design, leading and primarily implementing the Pacific Policing Initiative, as well as driving broader Pacific strategy, coordination and engagement. The Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI) is a Pacific-led, Australian-backed initiative. It builds on decades of Pacific police cooperation and interoperability to empower the Pacific to respond collectively in times of need. The PPI has three pillars: Regional Centres of Excellence located in the Pacific to enhance policing capabilities through specialised training and operational support The Pacific Police Support Group, a multi-country police capability to deploy in response to Pacific requests for assistance (e.g. for major event management or crisis response) A Pacific Policing Development and Coordination Hub to support the development of the Centres of Excellence and Pacific Police Support Group deployments. Pacific police chiefs are continuing to take this initiative forward in its design and implementation. The role of the Pacific Policing Initiative Design Team is to facilitate and support this Pacific-led design process. What will you do? You will work as part of the team contributing to the design of the Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI). This means you will: Work collaboratively in a team environment to design components of the PPI Develop concise written, visual and/or verbal briefs on complex policy, strategic or capability development issues relevant to the design and implementation of the PPI Contribute to consultation, co-design and engagement processes with Pacific partners, whole of Australian government stakeholders and internal AFP stakeholders Contribute to the development of frameworks, plans and policies relevant to the implementation of the PPI, including in topics such as capability development, Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning, Gender and Inclusion, Disability Inclusion, learning continuums, operational cooperation and delivery coordination Provide ad hoc administrative assistance related to the delivery of the team's tasks We are interested in building a team of people from a range of different backgrounds, we encourage people with transferable skills and experience to apply Senior Team Members (Band 6) will be expected to work with a high level of autonomy and lead on key tasks under broad direction of the Team Leader We are interested in building a team of people from a range of different backgrounds, we encourage people with transferable skills and experience to apply.
