This includes those with complicated health requirements who are often placed in the ‘too hard basket’ About the Role We are currently seeking Casual Disability Support Workers to provide exceptional support to children and their families. The role requires you to assist our clients with all personal care tasks, some require high levels of respiratory monitoring, suctioning and seizure management. Some require transport to and from school. This role involves both personal and emotional support so if you have a positive mind set, are intuitive & client focused, this role is for you. Domestic Assistance can be a large part of this job, if there is down time, then you can help out with tasks around the house to help the family. Duties Seizure Management Respiratory management (using oxygen & patient monitor) Chest Physio Suctioning Manual handling Enteral feeding Medication administration Domestic assistance Companionship Community access assistance (including driving a wheelchair access van) About You Demonstrated experience in Disability & Support work is a must Manual handling is a main part of the role, can you lift or move awkward-heavy items and people is a must PEG experience including an infinity pump is desirable but easy to learn Prior experience with nasal and deep suctioning is desirable for the full range of shifts. Formal qualifications in Disability, Community Services, Current Registered Nursing student or similar, would be highly regarded but not essential if extensive experience can be demonstrated.
