Our customer is in his mid-50s, is hearing impaired, and lives with chronic pain. He and his family are looking for a compassionate and confident support worker, who can plan ahead of time and develop capacity-building and goal-orientated community access activities. The shifts will be school hours Monday to Friday and occasional weekends. Desirable: – Proven or lived experience as a Disability Support Worker or in a similar role – Certificate III or IV in Disability Support, a related field, or the ability to obtain – Manual handling training – Knowledge and understanding of disability support principles, policies, and practices – Worker Orientation Module – New Worker NDIS Induction Module – Supporting Effective Communication – Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals Our organisation values its employees and promotes a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: – Providing hands-on support and care to individuals with physical and neurological disabilities. – Assisting individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and household tasks. – Promoting independence and facilitating community participation. – Following personalised care plans to meet the unique needs of each individual. – Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care and support. – Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided and report any changes in individual needs. – Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines to guarantee a safe working environment for yourself and the people we support. You must have or have the ability to obtain: – First Aid and CPR certification. – NDIS Worker Screening Check – Police Check – Working with Children’s Check You must have: – The ability to communicate effectively with individuals with disability, their families, and other stakeholders such as OT’s, Physio’s etc. – Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive and professional relationships with the people we support. – The ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. – Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet in challenging situations. – Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
