Sales Engineer — Canberra Region, Australian Capital Territory

Position Summary CDFS is looking for a motivated and competitive Sales Engineer to join our Canberra team, focusing on Digital Forensics and eDiscovery. You will play a critical role in business development, acting as the vital link between sales, marketing, and deployment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical awareness, exceptional customer and sales skills, and team leadership capabilities. You will effectively engage with senior client business leaders and technical professionals. Bring your sales and technical expertise to make a real impact in the digital forensics industry Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with sales team members to deliver client projects and resolve technical challenges. Conduct market research to identify selling opportunities and evaluate customer needs, focusing on law enforcement and government sectors. Contact prospective customers and present our digital forensics and eDiscovery services convincingly. Design technical solutions by working with vendors and our fulfilment team, creating bills of materials, and developing project plans. Attend design meetings with the sales team, providing technical advice for proposed solutions in the digital forensics domain. Deliver presentations to clients, acting as the “technical voice” in the sales cycle, especially for digital forensics and eDiscovery solutions. What You’ll Need Enthusiasm and energy towards customers and technical solutions in digital forensics. Technical awareness sufficient to understand and sell digital forensics and eDiscovery services. Solid consulting and pre-sales experience, capable of being the key communicator between technical and business stakeholders. High attention to detail and innovative thinking in solution design, particularly for digital forensics solutions. Leadership skills to manage a small team and support the overall sales team. Ability to articulate solution design clearly to clients, especially in the context of digital forensics and eDiscovery. Capability to create detailed scoping documents for digital forensics solutions. Confidence and flair in pre-sales demos, client meetings, and interactions with senior business leaders. Excellent time management and organisational skills. Accuracy and attention to detail, translating technical and business knowledge into comprehensive documentation. Relevant certifications in digital forensics and eDiscovery (preferred, but not mandatory). Agility, flexibility, and a proactive approach. Essential Requirements Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain Australian Security Clearance. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Information Systems or related field. Industry-standard certifications in digital forensics and eDiscovery (preferred, but not mandatory). Experience with commercial digital forensics and eDiscovery software suites (preferred, but not mandatory). Above-average technical writing skills and oral presentation skills. High attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines. Excellent problem-solving skills and initiative to think on your feet. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to take charge when necessary. Proven pre-sales skills and a strong service-centric mentality. Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and manage your own workload. A passion for learning and adapting to new things. Ideally, a minimum of 2 years in a similar role.
