We have an opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel or an experienced Legal Counsel . Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role is critical to Allied Credit, and includes engagement with key internal and external stakeholders to provide legal advice to our business with an emphasis on strategic initiatives and projects. This role would suits lawyers in private practice looking to take on responsibilities in-house or experienced in-house lawyers searching for a refreshing change. The ideal candidate will be at least 5 years’ PQE with a background in consumer finance, highly driven, resilient and adaptable. Responsibilities • Supporting the Head of Legal and senior leadership on matters such as new commercial relationships, commercial agreements, corporate governance or other bespoke matters. • Holding leadership responsibilities on significant strategic projects for the business, either contributing as a Subject Matter Expert or as Project Lead. • Using your engagement and influencing skills to effectively liaise with our stakeholders to problem solve and deliver timely and commercially focused legal advice on a wide range of topics. • Value adding through strategic legal advice and advisory services on all aspects of Allied Credit’s business activities. • Supporting the team’s BAU activities including prioritising requests from various business functions, encompassing our introducer relationships, customer service and in-flight loans. • Enhancing your legal skills and technical knowledge to apply legal principles to commercial scenarios, to deliver solutions in accordance with Allied Credit’s risk appetite and strategy. • Close collaboration with our Risk and Compliance teams to champion policies and procedures for our organisation. Your background • Experience in consumer credit (NCCPA and the National Credit Code) and privacy legislation. • Experience in the supply of goods and services using online platforms, ideally including APIs, data flows and cyber security (in the context of consumer and small business loans). • Understanding of business loan facilities, involving loan and security agreements, and PPSR. • Demonstrated ability to review and provide advice on commercial contracts, including strong interpretation and drafting skills. • Effective written and oral communication with the ability to adapt your approach to the audience, with an engagement style that builds strong working relationships across our business. • Previous project leadership experience and flexibility gained from working and leading in a fast paced, agile working and change environment is preferred. • Well-developed collaboration and problem-solving skills, and the ability to recommend process improvement and innovative solutions.
