Construction Estimator — Kensington, Melbourne

Our Civil Construction team (based in Kensington, Vic & also Rockhampton) are seeking an experienced (mid level) Estimator to join their team. This role can be based in Kensington or Rockhampton. Summary: The role of Estimator is responsible for preparing and managing the costs associated with projects. The Estimator develops and manages project submissions, monitors project plans, and collaborates with the Project Manager, Site/Project Engineers to identify and quantify project requirements, prepare cost estimates, and identify potential project risks. Responsibilities: Preparation, review & submission of accurate, competitive tenders Preparing and reviewing cost estimates and tender documentation Identify, detail and cost specific risks and opportunities associated with tender submissions Monitoring current competitive pricing, new techniques and cost trends, and ensuring that agreed company norms are always applied Collaborate on cross-functional tasks, providing support for projects as needed, including identifying solutions to problems that arise during construction Track project costs and update estimates as necessary Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Looking for new opportunities by building client relationships. Skills and Experience: Experience in the civil earthworks, structural & drainage Experience in Estimating using first Principles Experience in the rail industry and the roles and requirements of different rail providers (Aurizon, ARTC, V Line Experience in general construction along with Bridge knowledge Competent understanding of environmental management standards as well as workplace health and safety requirements. Knowledgeable about the latest trends and material. Detail-oriented, analytical, and have excellent communication and negotiation skills. Experienced in MS Projects, MS Excel, proposal documentation Estimate One experience desirable Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role Rail competencies (RSW /RIW) – desirable
