Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist — Hornsby, Hornsby Area

Martens is looking for enthusiastic, practical and resourceful geotechnical engineers / engineering geologists who take pride in their work and hold safety in high regard and are motivated and eager to learn and improve their skills. It is essential for applicants to have: Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering / Geology, attained from an accredited Australian institution (or equivalent Engineers Australia accredited qualification). Permanent full time Australian work rights (no temporary visa holders). Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, and well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a culturally diverse and multidisciplinary team environment. Ability to work in varying, fast-paced, changing and outdoor environments. Ability to carry out manual handling tasks associated with geotechnical fieldwork activities. Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment. Possess strong time management and organisational skills to assist achieving project schedules, budgets and scopes. A positive and proactive attitude. A passion to achieve high quality outcomes, through innovation and collaboration. A current Australian driver’s license. The following experiences and qualities will be considered favourable: Soil and rock logging in accordance with AS1726:2017 and agricultural soil classification, including rock structure mapping. Successfully conducting, leading and managing geotechnical investigations and assessments, and supervising subcontractors and geotechnical drilling crews. Successful completion of geotechnical assessments, analyses and designs, including slope instability risk assessment and mitigation design. Experience using geotechnical analysis and design software (e.g. Plaxis 2D/3D, Slide or Slope/W, Dips, Wallap, Circly) and GIS software packages (e.g. QGIS). Strong time management and organisational skills to assist meeting project schedules, budgets and scopes. Coordinating with and assisting project teams in carrying out project tasks. Ability to travel within greater NSW and occasional interstate work, including overnight stays. Proven achievement of high-quality outcomes saving clients cost and time. What you will do subject to your experience and capabilities: Undertake and coordinate geotechnical investigations and assessments. Assist with drilling related activities carried out with our 4WD drilling rigs. Construction works inspections and supervision. Geotechnical analyses and designs of varying complexity. Provide technical expertise across a broad range of projects of varying objective, complexity and size. Prepare high quality technical documentation and design solutions. Collaborate with other disciplines within Martens, external project teams and clients. Contribute to building the technical capabilities of others and transferring technical expertise within Martens.
