TGS School Nurses are responsible for providing high quality nursing care to our boys. About TGS TGS was founded in 1875 and is a member school of the Great Public Schools Association of Queensland (GPS). It is an independent non-denominational day and boarding school for boys with a total enrolment of 1,200 from Preparatory to Year 12. There are approximately 300 boarders in the School coming predominantly from throughout Queensland, Northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory. The School’s campus covers 20.5 hectares and is located one kilometre from the centre of Toowoomba. About the Position The Health Centre Registered Nurses are responsible for providing primary health care, health promotion and emergency first aid services to the boarders, day students and staff at the School including the provision of emergency and first aid to visitors and volunteers at the School. As a Casual Nurse, you will be on call Monday to Sunday, term time (37 weeks per year) and may be called upon to complete up to 12-hour shifts. Selection Criteria: To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in, or show a commitment to: working as a School nurse, paediatric nurse, emergency nurse or mental health nurse; working well under pressure in an acute care setting with the ability to triage patients; working within Child, Adolescent and Family Health capacity; possessing a high level of interpersonal skills to understand and communicate effectively with boys aged 5 to 18 years; working co-operatively with a variety of stakeholders, including medical practitioners, parents and visitors, teaching and ancillary staff; having sound computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft products; and ongoing personal and professional development. Candidates must have Registered Nurse, Division 1 Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a Tertiary Degree in Nursing.
