About the Role We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our firm in an in-house national role, on a 6-month fixed term contract. As an integral team member of the General Counsel team you will be providing legal support to our Senior Executive team and our wider firm on a range of legal and regulatory issues. This is an exciting opportunity with the role having the visibility and scope to influence the commercial decision making in the firm on a daily basis. Key Responsibilities Work with Maurice Blackburn’s practice teams to provide commercial orientated guidance and advise on a broad range of legal matters; Negotiate, draft, and review commercial contracts; Provide strategic legal advice in relation to interpretation of contracts and disputes; Provide general legal advice including in relation to privacy, IP, new product development, IT agreements, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution; Assist with reviewing and developing template documents including commercial terms and conditions, policies and procedures, property leases and internal training documents; Support Maurice Blackburn employees on legal and governance matters. The experience we are looking for This role requires a highly competent legal professional who is a natural at solving complex commercial problems. To thrive in this position and to be successful in supporting key deliverables, we’re looking for someone who can demonstrate: 5 PAE with a minimum 3 years’ post admission experience within general commercial/contracts practice; Experience in drafting and negotiating corporate/commercial agreements; Experience providing strategic legal advice in relation to privacy matters, the interpretation of contracts, and disputes; Confidence to provide advice at the Executive Level; Proven ability to influence and improve capabilities in professional standards; Exceptional time management skills and highly organised approach to workload management; Our People Commitment comes with the following benefits: 22 Weeks Parental leave with your superannuation guaranteed and back-to-work transition policy End of Year leave, 1 day first year, 4 days after 2 years Comprehensive mental health framework, including wellbeing leave (up to 4 extra days per year) and $299 reimbursement A hybrid flex working model Salary Continuance & Life Insurance 17.5% Annual Leave Loading … just to name a few.
