About the Role Reporting to the General Counsel, the Legal Counsel will play a pivotal role in supporting the in-house legal function across a broad range of legal and regulatory compliance matters across the Partnered Health Group In this role, you will work closely with the General Counsel to provide high-quality legal advice and commercially oriented guidance to a variety of internal stakeholders, including the Managing Director and CEO, CFO, Board, Business Unit Executive Leadership, and other Senior Management Leaders. The Legal Counsel will be responsible for a diverse range of corporate and commercial matters, including customer and supplier contracts, tender preparation and review, property leasing and licensing, privacy, regulatory compliance, and supporting M&A activities. This position presents an exciting opportunity to develop and expand your generalist legal expertise within the health industry, working within a small, collaborative in-house legal team. Key Responsibilities Support the General Counsel in providing high-quality legal advice across all legal matters affecting the Group. Advise and provide commercial guidance to cross-functional teams on contract and legal compliance, procurement, risk identification and mitigation, dispute resolution, and tendering activities. Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including customer-initiated contracts, service agreements, supply contracts, consultancy agreements, leases, and confidentiality agreements. Assist in the development and maintenance of legal templates and internal legal processes to support the Group’s contractual risk management framework. Monitor legislative developments and advise on changes in the law that may impact the Group’s operations. Brief and manage external legal providers as required. Conduct due diligence and support M&A activities. Deliver training and internal communications on relevant legal and compliance matters. Evaluate legal issues relating to business decisions and provide risk assessments and mitigation strategies. Maintain ongoing CPD requirements and remain up-to-date with relevant legal developments. Skills & Experience Bachelor of Laws degree and current Practising Certificate. Admitted to practice as a solicitor in South Australia. 2–5 years post-admission experience in an in-house setting and/or reputable commercial law firm. Demonstrated experience in legal drafting, contract review, and commercial negotiation. Ability to adapt legal skills to new practice areas. Membership to relevant industry bodies.
