The services required will enable the agency to supplement its existing ICT and digital workforce to ensure a high quality of technology and digital development for the Buyer with the flexibility to ramp resourcing up and down as needs require. Engaging a flexible ICT workforce will enable the Buyer to augment its requirements for the major work programs being undertaken The Role: Software Engineers have experience overseeing software development projects, writing optimised code, and provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers. They are responsible for the quality and functionality of the software produced by their team. Key duties and responsibilities • perform and manage analysis, design, development, prototyping, unit testing and maintenance activities • solve highly complex problems and deliver high quality solutions • perform high-level analysis of technical requirements to support project evaluation with proposed solutions • undertake technical design and development of highly complex custom solutions, and/or standard conversion and migration solutions • manage the release and ensure go-live production support and maintenance for the team’s developments • proactively share knowledge and expertise as the subject matter expert, and provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced staff • ensure compliance with endorsed software development methodologies • provide support to development teams to ensure high quality custom solution realisation • lead and manage the operations of a team including overseeing work priorities and resource management • maintain and support existing system/technology to support day-to-day operation • report on the achievement of business outcomes, key performance indicators and quality assurance in the area of responsibility • develop staff capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning • resolve escalated issues and suggest alternative approaches • prepare and review a range of written material which may include technical and corporate documentation • provide detailed, specialist technical advice to the senior executive where appropriate Technical skills Skills for the Information Age (SFIA) required: • Emerging technology monitoring EMRG - Level 5 • Methods and tools METL - Level 5 • Programming/software development PROG - Level 5 • Specialist advice TECH - Level 5 • Systems design DESN - Level 5 • Systems development management DLMG - Level 5 Location and Contract Term: This role is based in ACT, QLD, SA, VIC . 12 month contract with 2 x 12-month extension option pending budget and delegate approval.
