Location: Ideally, this role will be based at Akaysha's Head Office in Melbourne, Cremorne. Reporting to: Technical Operations Manager The role: This role will work within the Asset Management team to provide technical and operational support for all Akaysha Energy Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sites operating in the National Electricity Market. The role includes both pre-operations and operational phases, with Akaysha Energy currently building 1.6GW of power capacity at BESS sites in the NEM across four locations, with the first to come fully online in 2025. The role will include the application of condition assessments, spares management, risk assessments, condition monitoring, operation and maintenance optimisation, and strategies for the optimum management Akaysha Energy’s Australian BESS portfolio. Key responsibilities will include: Establish ISO 55000 aligned Asset Class Strategies and use them to justify scheduled maintenance plans for BESS assets - including but not limited to switchgear, transformers, protection, control, and communication systems. Drive the development and application of condition assessment and asset health processes to enhance BESS asset reliability, supporting the Asset Management team meet asset performance objectives. Bridge technical aspects of BESS design and construction into operations, including assisting with design reviews, safety workshops, technical specifications, handover processes and risk assessment. Drive continuous improvement by conducting technical analysis of asset performance and maintenance needs, including leading root cause analysis investigations, liaising with OEMs on equipment specific items and engaging internal and external resources to deliver fit for purpose reports and proposals. Support technical troubleshooting of real time operational issues for BESS assets in operation. Support technical aspects of scheduled maintenance execution, reporting and close out. Develop, monitor, and report technical asset performance metrics. Champion management of change processes and procedures for operational assets Embed risk-based work processes for operations and maintenance planning and execution. Act as the key interface between Akaysha Energy Engineering team and the Akaysha Energy Asset Management team. Robust understanding of the overall principles of asset management and how technical decisions impact real-time and lifecycle asset performance is highly desirable. Extensive asset class knowledge in traditional distribution network assets and renewable energy asset classes is highly desirable. Experience in working under ISO55000 certified or aligned asset management systems. Proficiency in remotely diagnosing and troubleshooting issues. High level of attention to detail and ability to work both autonomously and supporting a wider organisation in a collaborative fashion. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong skills in reporting and documentation Ability to work with a small, fast-paced team and make critical decisions quickly. Willingness to learn, adapt and develop in a fast-paced sector.
