Who we are The Meat Exports Branch works in close partnership with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain national export inspection and certification services for meat (red meat, poultry, pork, sheep and game meat). This includes the development of legislation, operational policy and guidelines, instructional material, technical training development and delivery and engagement with industry and government stakeholders. The central office team manages the export certification system (EXDOC) and provides operational support to the department's technical service delivery streams who are responsible for inspection, verification and certification of meat and meat products across Australia. The branch also includes the division's certification integrity unit that evaluates the effectiveness of the division's export systems. The Certification Management Group (CMG) is a dynamic team with a wide variety of responsibility. The export systems are CMGs core function which ensure exports of agricultural produce can comply with the legislative requirements. This makes CMG integral in the exports space and the gateway to overseas markets. CMG are problem solvers and work to support exporters through the exports process. There are lots of exciting things happening in the CMG space as we undertake an ambitious digital transformation. The key duties of the position include The Job We are looking for motivated individuals who are willing to take ownership of a problem and work through to a solution. As an Administration Assistant your duties will include, but are not limited to: • responding to email and phone queries and assisting in the management of departmental inboxes • providing support and advice to industry on how to meet export regulations and compliance • proactively handling and resolving requests and inquiries from a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external • monitoring and tracking critical issues and swiftly escalating them to the appropriate channels for timely resolution • conducting thorough reviews and assessments of applications and templates and ensuring precise data input into the relevant IT system • maintaining up-to-date system records in response to audits and export program requirements and ensuring the records are accurate and compliant • assisting with the administration of export system programs and functions, undertaking small projects and supporting the team in the delivery of team and agency goals. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
