Who we are The Communication and Media Branch delivers internal and corporate communication and strategic communication activities in support of the department and our ministers, for the benefit of the Australian community. This includes managing the department's social media strategy and social media presence, media support services across the department and for our ministers' offices, production services including graphic design and branding, Web publishing for external-facing departmental websites, and the development of campaign and non-campaign materials. The Digital, Design, Editing and Video Section is a multi-disciplinary team of creative thinkers, designers, writers, editors and digital specialists. We believe in the power of connecting user needs with departmental objectives through the delivery of clear, concise, audience and task-focused communication products. The key duties of the position include The Job This role sits within the Web User Experience (UX) team, in the Digital, Design, Editing and Video section. You will gather evidence to understand and champion the needs of our users and develop content that is simple, clear and easy to use. As a Senior Web Content Designer, you bring together business objectives and user needs to create clear, purposeful content. You plan and undertake user research activities, turn data into human insights and insights into user-friendly content. You understand how words and visual design work together to create a positive and productive user experience. You have experience in user research and are a strong writer, with a talent for turning complex ideas into simple content that helps our users to understand and act. You can confidently articulate insights and best practice principles to sell your work to decision-makers in the department. Your work will focus on the delivery of user research, content strategy and content design for a specific content redevelopment project under the direction of the Web UX team lead. You will collaborate with the broader Web UX team to deliver this project, and the other work of the team where time allows. Please note that the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
