About The Opportunity Casual Landfill Attendant (Student Opportunities) Waste Services is offering casual opportunities for up to four students to join our team as Landfill Attendants. This role provides valuable experience in environmental services and offers flexible hours to fit around your studies. You'll primarily be involved in our "Let's Get It Sorted" bin inspection program and providing cover for landfill attendant shifts. Learn more about the "Let's Get It Sorted" program : https://www.bundaberg.qld.gov.au/Residents/Waste-and-recycling/Bin-Inspection-Program Location: Primary Location: Bundaberg Waste Management Facility - 46 University Drive Bin Inspections: Collection Depot - 86 University Drive Hours: Bin Inspections: Monday to Friday, 5:30 am to 9:30 am, across the Bundaberg Region (as rostered). Landfill Attendant Shifts: High demand for weekend (Saturday/Sunday) and early weekday morning shifts. Flexibility is a plus What You'll Do: Bin Inspections: Conduct residential bin inspections to identify contamination in waste and recycling bins. Resident Education: Engage with residents, providing friendly advice on proper waste disposal and recycling practices. Customer Service (Landfill): Supervise customers unloading at the transfer station, ensuring proper load inspections and directing them to appropriate areas for recycling. Data Recording: Accurately record bin inspection results, stockpile inspections, and contamination data using Council-approved applications. Communication: Use two-way radios to coordinate with on-site staff. Resource Recovery: Identify and collect valuable scrap materials and saleable items from incoming loads. Facility Maintenance: Maintain a clean and tidy waste facility, including litter collection. What You'll Bring: Basic customer service and computer skills (experience with cash handling and receipting is a plus). Current Queensland "C" class driver's license. General Construction Induction (White) card (or willingness to obtain one). Knowledge of Council Workplace Health and Safety requirements (or willingness to learn).
