We drive Urban Utilities’ digital & data strategy, oversee the digital portfolio, and manage IT, OT, data, IoT, security, infrastructure, system administration, network operations, and support services. Reporting to the Lead, the Specialist IT Engineer is accountable for providing expert-level consultation, technical and process management support and high-level technical support and delivery services to support the operational functions of the team. Being recognised as a Subject Matter Expert, the Specialist IT Engineer will work with the Lead to ensure the technical, quality and process function responsibilities of the team are effectively and efficiently delivered to support the requirements of the wider Urban Utilities business. You will be responsible for coaching and providing escalation assistance to other team members in managing the resolution of 1st and 2nd level technical incidents and service requests, whilst being accountable for ensuring the resolution of more complex support and delivery challenges for the team. This role is responsible for contributing to and demonstrating best practices in the specialised area, coaching members of your team and offering insights and solutions to optimise existing or develop new processes when required. This role will be responsible for owning the successful realisation of some higher-order Service Management Functions within the team context such as Knowledge Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Service Catalogue Management and working collaboratively with other D&I Teams on matters such as Release and Deployment Management, Service Validation, Capacity Management and other relevant Service Strategy, Design and Transition functions. You will utilise your specialised knowledge to identify and work to resolve operational risks, ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards and drive continuous improvement initiatives within your area of expertise. As a subject matter expert, you will model work behaviours in relation to aligning to Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets and ensuring quality in creation and maintenance of stakeholder communications, process documentation and standard operational procedures (SOP’s). About you: Bachelor's or Masters’ degree in relevant subject area (Information Technology, Business Administration or related field) and/or significant experience in aligned technology areas. Expert certifications relevant to technical field or supporting processes (Service Management, COBIT, ITIL Specialised Certification, PRINCE2 Practitioner, CCIE, Microsoft Expert certification, TOGAF etc) would be advantageous. Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and support IT operations. Customer-focused with a strategic and curious mindset. Demonstrates integrity, authenticity, and values diverse perspectives. Agile and adaptable, embracing change and new challenges. Strong planning and decision-making skills to drive safe and effective outcomes. Security clearance/SOCI requirements may apply. Performance of ‘on call’ duties are an inherent requirement of this role. This requires that the employee must be available to be on-call and to attend to work matters, both in person and remotely, outside of normal working hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as reasonably required to fulfill the requirements of the position. The days, times, duration and frequency of on call arrangements may be subject to change, including at short notice, as required by Urban Utilities’ operational needs as applying from time to time. At all times whilst on-call, you must be fit for duty, contactable, and able to respond, including the ability to physically attend if required, to the operational needs of the business within a reasonable timeframe and in a safe manner.
