CENTRAL PROJECTS FUNCTION Bravus’ new Central Projects Function is tasked with delivering the significant program of Facilities, Infrastructure, Processing, Rail Systems and Technology capital works for our Carmichael Rail Network, Bowen Rail Company, and Bravus Mining and Resources businesses. This is an unmatched opportunity to work as part of a cohesive, multi-disciplinary team, on both rail and mining projects valued at more than A$100 million in the next 12 months alone. Bravus’ mining, rail network, and freight rail assets have decades-long operational horizons, and this provides an exciting pipeline of largescale projects for the Central Projects Function to deliver. ABOUT THE ROLE Join our team as a Project Engineer – Studies, where you'll play a key role in managing, designing, planning, and executing studies for the Carmichael Mine and Bravus Rail Network. This position ensures engineering standards are met, with strict compliance in both design and construction. Acting as the critical link between the business and designers, you’ll drive the development of studies to the required level for toll-gating approval. Responsibilities of the role include: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop project scopes, objectives, and deliverables for studies, aligning them with operational requirements and strategic goals. Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and engineering analyses to support project planning and decision-making, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental guidelines. Prepare and/or oversee the development of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications while supporting toll-gating requirements. Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure design optimization across projects or components of multi-disciplinary initiatives. Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits, approvals, and clearances for project development and execution. Manage study schedules, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure timely outcomes within budget constraints while minimizing risks and disruptions to ongoing operations. Review, approve, and monitor quality management plans related to the study to ensure that work meets design standards, specifications, and performance requirements. Control and collate quality records and associated documentation. Provide technical support and guidance to the construction team and contractors by interfacing with designers to address technical queries and requests for information. Offer technical support and input to operations and maintenance teams during the development of user requirements, performance metrics, and maintenance standards to ensure optimal system performance and longevity. Document study progress, challenges, and lessons learned, preparing comprehensive reports and presentations for management review and decision-making. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve project development processes and outcomes. A flexible attitude to work will be required to meet project deadlines. Other qualifications and attributes required include: Necessary: Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Minimum of 10 years of experience in project development and the management of engineering design, in multi-disciplinary projects. Proven track record of successfully managing complex studies from conception to commencement of construction, within budget and schedule, while maintaining high safety and quality standards. Strong technical knowledge of project and study systems, standards and methodologies, for the management of studies and engineering development Proficiency in project management software tools and Microsoft Office Suite. Desired: Queensland Coal Mining and Rail industry experience Study and Engineering experience gained within a mining, heavy haul rail or Infrastructure environment.
