Description DIRECTORATE : Business, Growth & Community CLASSIFICATION : Grade B SALARY: $37.72 - 43.76 per hour 11.5% employer contribution to superannuation (includes 25% loading in lieu of all leave entitlements) REPORTING TO : OOSH Service Coordinator EMPLOYMENT TYPE : Casual THE POSITION: To support children with Additional Needs to successfully access the Out of School Hours Program. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To ensure that the Council's Out Of School Hours program operates in an efficient and effective manner. To ensure the provision of a high standard of care and education is delivered to all children attending the program. To develop and maintain positive relationships with families of children with additional needs. To prepare the environment for additional needs children to support inclusive practices to build tolerance and acceptance. To work with all staff as part of an efficient and effective team. To support individual children with additional needs to participate in the day to day experiences of OOSH. To program for individual children in ways that minimise activity limitations and participation restrictions. To share knowledge and skills with team members. To demonstrate an openness to diversity and work in a person centred capacity. Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training. After School Care during school terms Monday to Friday, 1pm - 6pm Before School Care during school terms Monday to Friday, 7am - 9am Vacation Program during School Holidays (38 hours per week during NSW School Holiday periods) Rosters prepared to incorporate the following spread of days and hours: Monday to Friday, 8.00am - 5.30pm, staff on occasion may be asked to work split shifts. This position has the opportunity to carry out the role of an Educational Leader on a rotational basis. If required in this capacity the tasks include: Providing guidance to other educators in their planning and reflection Mentoring colleagues in their implementation practices Developing strategies to improve the educational program at their service This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely. This position involves working both indoor and outdoor, along with computer work. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. Appropriate WHS standards will be applied for all manual handing activity. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position. This position requires evidence of a current NSW Working with Children Clearance This position requires evidence of vaccination against the following infectious diseases: Pertussis (Whooping Cough) Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR) Varicella (Chicken Pox) Location at time of appointment, at one of AlburyCity's OOSH Programs located at: Albury Public School, North Albury Public School, Trinity Anglican College or St Patrick's Parish School with occasional visits to external sites/depots and AlburyCity Administration building as required. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Certificate IV in School Based Education Support or equivalent relevant experience. Experience with working with children with additional needs NSW Working with Children Clearance First Aid Certificate (or to be completed within first three months of employment) Current Accredited Emergency Asthma Management Training (or to be completed within first three months of employment) Current Accredited Anaphylaxis Management Training (or to be completed within first three months of employment) DESIRABLE CRITERIA: Certified Supervisor Certificate Knowledge of Qikkids Childcare Management Software Class C (standard) Driver's licence EXPERIENCE Relevant working experience with primary school aged students SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: A working knowledge and understanding is required in the following areas: Child development and ability to plan appropriate activities Operation of the Out of School Hours Service Education and Care Services National Regulations My Time, Our Place - curriculum framework National Quality Framework - as outlined by ACECQA Ability to implement policies and procedures
