Part time | Maximum term Your new role We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Specialist to join our team. This role, funded by the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania’s Mission Grant Program and overseen by the Mission Grants Executive (MGE), is designed to provide critical support to vulnerable children and their families facing higher levels of complexity. Key Responsibilities: Work alongside Targeted and Therapeutic Family Support programs using the Uniting Therapeutic Model of Care and the Best Interests Case Practice Model. Offer support through consultation and outreach, addressing the unique needs of children and families. Play a key role in coaching and mentoring staff within the Targeted and Therapeutic Family Support programs. Assist with staff practice support and networking on behalf of the agency. Your skills and experience To be successful in your application, you will hold a degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related tertiary qualification relevant to child and family welfare. You will also have: An excellent understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (CYFA), particularly the “Best Interests” framework, information sharing provisions, and child protection system. Extensive knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) system. In-depth understanding of current issues facing families, children, and young people with additional needs. Extensive knowledge of reflective practice and its application in daily work. Experience in mentoring and supporting workers, including supervising students. Building networking opportunities and representing organizational values at local meetings and forums. Understanding of volunteer support or experience in volunteering.
