The key duties of the position include The Role As the Equipment Design and Fabrication Technician, you will: Manage the design, production and assembly of high speed digital and RF PCBs, and mechanical assemblies for equipment; Conduct and produce designs of analogue electronic components such as novel broadband low-noise amplifiers, power-amplifiers, filters, frequency converters and associated antennas; Assist in managing drawing office activities, ensuring outputs are delivered in required timeframes in accordance with appropriate quality and technical standards. About our Team Sensors and Effectors leads the impetus for innovation within Australian force operations by providing science and technology advice about equipment, personnel and processes. The Surveillance Systems (SS) Major Science and Technology Capability (MSTC) within DST Group's Sensors and Effectors Division (SED) drives the application of science and technology to solve problems and deliver solutions for the Australian Government and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and improve their capabilities in radar surveillance. The High Frequency Systems STC supports the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN), comprising three over-the-horizon radars operated by the Royal Australian Air Force to protect Australia's northern approaches. This support is achieved through multi-disciplinary research and sophisticated experimentation for radars operating in the High Frequency spectral band. HFS develop systems utilising combinations of propagation modes, and systems that characterise the ionosphere. Applications include the detection and tracking of air and surface targets, and missile defence. Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be able to: Work collaboratively within a small, multi-disciplinary team to help define and solve R&D problems; Have experience managing procurement of electronic components and services by external suppliers; Maintain configuration management and archiving facilities in accordance with Defence Science and Technology (DSTG) records management policies; Provide direction to technical staff assembling electronic and mechanical equipment. Enhance science and technology (S&T) capability through targeted collaboration with other DST Group teams, academia, industry and other research organisations.
