We are seeking an experienced and passionate person to join our extra-curricular music program as Head of Strings. This is a part time role of 0.6FTE. The primary role of Head of Strings is to actively participate in and contribute to the planning and future development of the Strings Music in the School. Reporting to the Head of Extra-curricular Music you would; Provide advice on all matters pertaining to the Strings Music stream, including budget requirements; Oversee planning of Strings development, Strings skills and repertoire selection In conjunction with Head of Extra Curricular Music and appropriate Ensemble Directors oversee the production and review of risk assessments for performances and events that involve String Groups Assist with the recruitment of both internal and external conductors and act as their point of contact; Attend performances of ensembles in their respective streams; Organise performances/concerts as appropriate for all String ensembles; Conduct annual auditions for ensembles in your area, liaising with the Head of Extra-curricular Music and Music Tutors to make decisions about ensemble selections; Assist conductors as required with rehearsals, and the Selection and organisation repertoire for each ensemble in line with the overarching pedagogical aims of the Strings stream. Overseeing mentoring program for younger ensembles. Attend Music Camp Above all, you will have a willingness to engage, connect and care for our students. Skills And Experiences ABOUT YOU: To be successful in this role, you will have relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience as well as: Teaching qualifications within a particular Music stream are preferable but not essential. Similarly, registration as a teacher in Queensland or eligibility for registration is preferable but not essential. If not a registered Teacher, the possession of a current blue card is required. A passion for your instrumental Music stream and knowledge of multiple styles; Conducting experience with children, preferably in a school setting across multiple age groups Experience as a senior member of a School or external ensemble; Experience as a Music Tutor with the ability to contribute to the coaching and conducting program of the School; The capacity to develop and implement a range of strategies to augment students’ Music experiences; Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills and organisational skills Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, parents and carers to achieve the best outcomes for students, and Demonstrate a commitment to the Christian faith and Anglican ethos of the School.
