More About the Role at Nine The Nine.com.au Internship Program is an ideal paid internship opportunity for the next generation of Australia's journalists to build their skills and get real-world experience under their belt. We’re looking for third year students to work with our various editorial teams. You’ll develop your writing skills, build a portfolio and get a hands-on feel for what it’s like to work as a professional journalist. Depending on the interests of the candidate we can offer experience on all the sites - or we can tailor the internship to focus just on their areas of interest. Day to day you will: - Pitch daily stories at news conferences. - Write and load articles - Work on images and video - Optimise articles for SEO - Have the ability to work across our range of websites, from 9News, to Sport, Lifestyle, Affiliates, Entertainment and Show sites and Travel Please note, this is a 10 week internship opportunity, working 2 days per week. Qualifications What we would like to see: - An understanding and knowledge of a CMS experience - A good foundation of writing and journalistic skills - An understanding of SEO and best practise - Experience in how digital video and social amplification can add too and drive a story - Ability to manage deadlines - Understanding of news issues and current affairs - Excellent interpersonal skills - Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
