Task & Responsibilities Duties of a Room Leader While responsibilities outline the broader scope of a Room Leader’s role, duties focus on the specific tasks and daily activities they perform. Here are the key duties: Supervise and support educators in their daily activities, ensuring a high-quality learning environment. Plan and conduct daily learning activities that align with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and cater to children's developmental needs. Observe, document, and assess children’s progress, providing tailored learning experiences based on their interests and needs. Ensure safety and hygiene protocols are followed, including monitoring cleanliness, meal preparation, and risk assessments. Monitor and manage classroom materials, ensuring resources are well-maintained, age-appropriate, and readily available. Communicate with families daily, sharing updates on their child's well-being, progress, and any concerns or achievements. Conduct team meetings and training sessions to support educators' development and maintain consistency in teaching practices. Prepare reports and maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and developmental progress notes. Implement behaviour management strategies to create a positive and respectful learning environment. Coordinate transitions and routines, such as mealtimes, rest periods, and group activities, ensuring smooth operations. Support students on placement, offering guidance, feedback, and practical learning experiences. Report any safety hazards or concerns to management and take appropriate steps to mitigate risks. Participate in staff meetings and professional development, staying updated with industry regulations and best practices. Ensure compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements, including child protection laws and centre policies. Responsibilities Lead and mentor a team of educators, providing guidance, support, and professional development while fostering a collaborative and positive learning environment. Supervise students on placement, ensuring they gain hands-on experience while adhering to best practices and regulatory requirements. Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging environment for children, implementing and monitoring health, hygiene, and safety practices in compliance with regulations. Develop, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate daily routines and educational programs aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) or other relevant frameworks. Maintain accurate records, including observations, attendance, learning progress, and incident reports, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Build strong, respectful relationships with families, providing regular updates on their child’s development and encouraging parental engagement. Work collaboratively with educators and centre leadership, participating in meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. Ensure adherence to all centre policies and procedures, including child protection, health and safety, and inclusion guidelines. Organise and maintain a stimulating, well-resourced learning environment, promoting sustainability and responsible use of materials. Qualification & Experience Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC). A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a childcare, early learning, or daycare environment. Current Working with Children Check. First Aid certification, including CPR and Anaphylaxis management. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
