Our client develops, owns and operates renewable energy generation assets that lead the current renewable energy transition. They are one of the Australia’s prominent renewable developers and due to their portfolio growth, they are looking for an experienced Grid Connection Engineer to assist in ensuring the successful integration of renewable energy projects into the electrical grid. As a Grid Connection Engineer, your key responsibilities will include managing grid connection activities such as: Developing implementation plans for grid connection projects, including the development of the Grid Performance Specification Conducting preliminary analyses of transmission network data to assess potential connection locations and capacity for early-stage developments Serving as the technical liaison with the Australian Energy Market Operator and Network Service Providers, ensuring all compliance requirements are met Providing technical guidance on design inputs related to grid connection, substations, and collector network aspects Offering technical support throughout the entire project lifecycle, from feasibility studies through to commissioning Your experience and qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field 5 years of experience in power systems Expertise in generator and power systems modelling (experience with PSSE, PSCAD, and PowerFactory is essential) Demonstrated understanding of grid connection processes, including renewable generator plant single-line diagrams (SLDs) and generator operating and performance requirements Experienced in connecting projects to the National Electricity Market (NEM) and handling AEMO connections Excellent communication and interpersonal skills This is a newly created position, and you will be reporting directly to the Head of Grid Connection. While the main office is based in Sydney, you will be able to work flexibly between home and office.
