Our Next Senior Closure Engineer or Geoscientist We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Mine Closure Engineer or Geoscientist to join our team This position will provide technical expertise to support the delivery of Okane’s leading mine closure consulting services through an integrated life of mine approach. This role is open to mine closure practitioners and/or specialist, anywhere in Australia , with a background in civil engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, geology or environmental sciences. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities Apply an advanced understanding of environmental and engineering principles to progress and lead the delivery of new approaches to solve basic problems. Provide leadership including training, technical guidance, strategic guidance and mentorship to the operations team. Collate and assist in preparation of technical documentation, proposals and reports in area of technical discipline. Provide peer and technical review of reports developed by others. Lead in development of closure costings, cost estimation and closure scheduling. Project, client and contractor management. Provide leadership and strategic direction within integrated mine closure projects. Assist in the development of conceptual models in support of mine waste storage facility closure plan development. Prepare for and hold workshops and risk assessments with variety of stakeholders and external project support. Interact competently with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels of expertise. Develop strong relationships within the mining industry, foster existing client relationships, and leverage client relationships to generate new leads and opportunities or initiate referrals. Demonstrate care about the wellbeing of yourself and others, through actively participating in occupational health and safety standards, activities and initiatives. Job Requirements Experience preparing mining project approval applications with solid working knowledge of regulatory and legislative frameworks. Strong written and oral communication skills, and experience with technical report writing, technical data and design review, and technical report peer review. Demonstrated ability to competently use their initiative to resolve tasks or problems that arise. Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (civil, geotechnical, environmental, geo-environmental) or Science (geology, environmental science) or similar. Experience in mine closure and remediation either within Oceania or overseas. Mining, or client-side experience is considered an asset (but is not required). Ability and willingness to coordinate with staff and clients in different time zones. Experience using relevant software packages including Drains, Siberia, Golden Surfer, Wepp, Deswik, Geostudio, Goldsim, etc is considered an asset. Experience building and leading a team is considered an asset.
