Senior Systems Engineer — The Rocks, Sydney

The role The role of Senior Systems Engineer within the Core Infrastructure team supports the configuration, implementation, maintenance, administration and securing of Infrastructure components such as compute, storage, security and networking (including related software) deployed at APRA, in the aid the delivery of APRA’s vision of Modernising its prudential architecture, transforming our technology and data, and cultivating an agile and engaged organisation. The role also involves making recommendations regarding the development of new and innovative solutions to current IT related issues. In the provision of advice to senior managers on systems issues, the position operates within a framework established by the policies and practices of the IT Unit and is guided by the APRA Act, other relevant legislation, and accepted practice. The team Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager within the Technology division, the Senior Systems Engineer is a member of the Core Infrastructure team. Primary stakeholders are the Head of the Chief Technology Officer and CIO, other product teams within the Technology department and extends to all staff members within APRA as the Core Infrastructure provides the foundation for many of the Technology solutions at APRA. Role also provides an escalation point for troubleshooting issues where it is suspected the underlying Infrastructure is experiencing an issue. Key responsibilities Administer, implement, configure, and maintain infrastructure hardware and software components; Perform maintenance patching and hardening activities as required; Identify and remediate Cyber related issues and vulnerabilities relating to any Infrastructure components; Converged Infrastructure implementation, configuration, and maintenance; Storage hardware implementation, configuration, and maintenance; Design, deploy and maintain infrastructure solutions and components based on the needs of the Technology department, wider APRA organisation and best practices; Secure administration (and the implementation of it); Firewall administration; Delivery of projects, both working autonomously and part of a larger group; Create, update, and maintain documentation for the Infrastructure solutions as they evolve; Interstate travel to branch office for maintenance and auditing purposes; and Afterhours maintenance activities. About you Deep knowledge and understanding of the latest software and hardware equipment and systems, HPE Hardware, Virtualised/cloud environments; Specific skills and exposure to: Microsoft Windows Server Operating systems including Group Policy, Windows Active Directory, DNS, ADFS; Linux Operating Systems; VMware virtualisation stack including vCenter, SRM, Lifecycle Manager and ESX; Microsoft Azure Cloud; Anti-Virus Tools; Experience utilising Enterprise patching solutions such as Ansible and WSUS; Experience configuring and maintaining PAM Solutions such as CyberArk. Exposure to Enterprise Monitoring Tools such as Microsoft System Centre solutions and SolarWinds; Exposure to the following preferred but not essential: Cisco Networking – Routers and Switches; Qualys Vulnerability management platform, Tidal scheduler; Veritas Netbackup; Administration, configuration and maintenance of VMWare NSX or NSX-T/V, vRNI; Experience with utilising PowerShell; Performing Network troubleshooting; Skills and exposure across Microsoft SQL and Oracle Database administration; Desired experience in the administration of: Advanced security administration (TLS/Certificates/Encryption), Teams Managed Devices (Intel NUC, Logitech), WAPs (Cisco, HP), Load Balancers (F5), Firewall technologies and appliances (Fortinet), Microsoft IIS; Expert experience managing and configuring Windows Server, VMWare; Storage appliance configuration (HPE Nimble); Experience and knowledge of working within the ACSC Essential 8/ISM and PSPF; Existing Baseline security clearance (or higher) would be highly regarded.
