Permanent opportunity available in the Maintenance Programs Planning and Monitoring Team. Provide product, operational and maintenance skills in the management of water systems to achieve customer, stakeholder, and regulatory requirements Potts Hill location with competitive salary plus superannuation. As a Programs Engineer Leak Detection, you will provide specialist technical advice to support strategy, planning, design, and delivery, driving improved business, technical, customer, and operational outcomes. In this role, you’ll contribute to innovative projects like integrating acoustic sensors and a web portal for leak detection across Sydney Water’s network, bringing advanced technology into everyday operations. Responsibilities: Implement system, asset and/or product strategies to improve the performance of processes and/or assets & operating systems. Contribute to improvement in reliability, maintainability, and safety of assets within Sydney Water’s area of operations Manage Active Leak detection programs using various technologies Actively explore, test, and develop technology applications across the asset lifecycle and predictive performance analytics, to engineering standards and maintenance program integration, to implementation in maintenance and operations (including delivery partners), and associated feedback loops. Provide technical leadership to integrate acoustic sensors web portal within Sydney Water’s Digital Framework developed together by Sydney Water and UTS To utilise skills in mechatronics, machine learning, programming, and knowledge of IoT devices and sensors Apply processes and procedures related to operational and condition programs specific to Water Network Leakage and initiate corrective measures Scope work and prepare plans to enable issuing of work to service providers Assist in monitoring delivery of the corrective maintenance programs Primary point of contact within the team for implementing new Leakage related technologies Comply with relevant Operating Licence, Customer Contract and other regulatory requirements including EPA & Department of Health (where relevant) and associated legislation. Contribute to management strategies and policies within the nominated focus areas Effectively deal with customer enquiries & complaints in a coordinated and expeditious manner Experience and Qualifications: A tertiary qualification in engineering or a related discipline and/or proven experience in operations, maintenance/renewals, system planning, asset management or treatment/quality aspects of water and/or recycled water and/or wastewater and/or storm water systems Experience with technology tools – Programming (eg Python), Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning or similar Capability with mechatronics / electronics / automation / data science or related activities Familiar with IoT devices and sensors used in the water industry for leak detection High level process improvement skills with analytic ability and strategic problem solving skills Good skills and experience in dealing with customer, stakeholder & regulator issues Understanding of and experience in treatment processes/product quality &/or operating assets &/or systems for the delivery of water &/or recycled water &/or stormwater product and services that meet customer and stakeholder expectations Experience in the measurement, analysis and evaluation of water &/or recycled water &/or wastewater &/or stormwater systems performance and the ability to develop strategies & work programs to improve performance Demonstrated self-motivation and willingness to accept challenges and deliver assigned projects as part of a team or as an individual Knowledge of the appropriate Regulatory requirements A solid understanding of the application of computerised system &/or maintenance &/or process management systems Knowledge of Quality Management Systems relevant to water &/or recycled water &/or wastewater &/or stormwater systems Advanced knowledge in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, including management and development of leakage data, e.g. web portal platform etc. Essential Requirements: You must have a current driving licence or can obtain one immediately Must be able to work outside normal working hours, either from home, office or in the field as required Please note as part of the application process, you will be asked to undergo background checks which includes a criminal history check.
