Your role at St John of God Bunbury H ospital The Administration Assistant is responsible for ensuring a high quality service is provided for the admission of all patients and associated clerical functions.The role rotates through both Admissions and Reception roles, including occassional after hours and weekend hours. The Position Ensure all patients are admitted according to the criteria and policies of the Department. Provide patients with all relevant information and ensure as far as possible that they have a good understanding of costs involved in their period of hospitalisation, and refer to Finance Manager as necessary. Record details of all Admissions, Inpatients, Day Cases and Outpatients i.e. personal details, workers' compensation, SGIC, hospital insurance cover. If uninsured, explain hospital procedure policy concerning fees - liaising with Finance Manager. Conduct Health Fund checks and ensure informed financial consent documentation is completed. Ensure each patient and their paperwork is taken to their Ward as promptly as possible after admission procedure, providing assistance where necessary. Liaise with Hospital Coordinator regarding medical and surgical admissions and possible re-allocation of inpatients to accommodate all admissions booked and unbooked. Maintain current bed state, updating possible discharges and patient movements to accommodate incoming patients and enter changes into computer. Correlate pre-admission forms with Operating Theatre lists and liaise with Medical Records to enable patient's previous history notes to be sent to Ward You will have relevant previous experience in data entry, a sound knowledge of medical terminology with a broad appreciation of medical terminology. You will have an understanding of the importance of confidentiality with regard to patient medical records and have the ability to communicate effectively with all customers and patients using the appropriate channels. To succeed you will have outstanding verbal and written communications skills and well developed time management skills, while displaying a positive attitude, excellent presentation and a flexible approach to working hours. You will be working independently in various roles and require a willingness to work cohesively as a member of the team.
