About the Centre/Service Oakleigh Grammar ELC is part of the wider Oakleigh Grammar School community, located in Melbourne’s south-east. The ELC provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 2 to 5 years, offering both part-time and full-time programs. It is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, which values child-led learning, creativity, and exploration. The curriculum is designed to support children’s cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development through play-based and inquiry-driven experiences. A key feature of the program is the bilingual Greek language component, which includes 12 hours per week with a specialist language teacher. This promotes cultural awareness and early language acquisition in a meaningful and engaging way. The ELC also provides a structured K4 program that prepares children for a smooth transition into Prep, with a focus on foundational literacy, numeracy, and social skills. The ELC has been rated as ‘Exceeding’ in several National Quality Standard areas, reflecting its commitment to high-quality education and care. Strong relationships, respect, and collaboration between educators, children, and families are central to the Centre’s philosophy, aligning with the school’s core values of humility, aspiration, respect, and kindness.
